The Importance of Prayer
Prayer is the lifeblood of every Chrstian. Without prayer in our life, we will surely whither on the vine. We will wonder why God seems so distant. We will also be missing out on great testimonies and great opportunities to experience the vast love and power of our Heavenly Father. Without prayer, we will experience no miracles, no transformation and no demonstrations of God’s mercy and grace. Without prayer, we are assigning ourselves to a life of stagnant growth as a disciple of Jesus.
Simply put, prayer is talking with God. It is a spiritual transaction that reaches out and touches the Kingdom of Heaven. Prayer is an avenue that allows us to communicate with the Creator of all things. It is a spiritual resource, designed and ordained by God, as the means of speaking with the supernatural world. It is the open door waiting to be entered, and it is something that we have access to every moment of every day. The more we use this precious gift, the more we will see God’s hand move in our life.
Is there any wonder why Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Rejoicing in all things is a form of prayer. Each time that we talk with Jesus throughout the day is a prayer being lifted up to Heaven. In addition to that, we are praying every time we give thanks to our Heavenly Father for anything that happens in our life. If we think about it, there are numerous opportunities throughout the day to pray. Too often we simply let those opportunities slip on by.
Prayer is the richness in the air we breathe. It is the lifeblood that flows through our veins. It is the food that enriches our soul and it is the salve that soothes our wounds. Every Christians without a solid daily prayer life is missing out on so much.
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us in increasing our prayer life each day.
Pray that we will naturally communicate with God at all times throughout the day and that we will see the fruits of our prayers manifest in our daily lives.
Having an active daily prayer life is beautiful. Yet it is a gift that is often misunderstood and underutilized. Let us live each day with an ever increasing prayer life and let us bear heavenly fruit that stems from our frequent conversations with the Creator of the Universe.
