The Holy Spirit

Let’s talk for a bit about the Holy Spirit. This powerful and mysterious aspect of God that lives within the very being of every follower of Christ. He is called our Counselor, our Comforter and our Advocate. He is the Giver of Gifts and the Bearer of Fruit. He is the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Grace and He was sent by our Father in Heaven, at the request of His Holy Son, to live with us and to be a part of us until we arrive at our forever home.

Paul tells us that “it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) So, regardless of what we may do after the moment of our justification, our union with the Holy Spirit is immediate and permanent. We can no more lose the presence of the Holy Spirit than we can lose our eternal salvation. We can certainly suppress His influence in our lives, but He will be with us until the very end.

He is a precious gift, given to us, not only as our guarantee into heaven, but as our access into the mysteries of God. As Paul says regarding the mysteries of the Almighty, “these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10) The truth is that no one can even understand the revelations and truths found throughout Scripture without the grace and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Our prayer as a church is that our connection to the Holy Spirit continues to strengthen and grow. That our understanding of who He is and the blessings that He brings rises up within us. We pray that our walk each day is guided and blessed by the Spirit of the Almighty and that His Giftings and His Fruit, His Truth and His Grace, are seen by all who we encounter.

Let our prayers call on the Holy Spirit to guide us each day and to enrich our lives with a greater understanding of our Heavenly Father.

Let us pray for ears that hear the deeper truths of the Gospel and a heart that is willing to be led by our precious Gift from the Most High.

May each day be filled with the blessings and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. May we continue to grow in our knowledge and understanding of Jesus as we willingly conform to the changes that the Spirit of God brings.
