Questions and Frustrations
Have any of us had those experiences where we absolutely believed that God was about to bless us abundantly, only to be denied the blessing that we thought was ours? It is one of the most frustrating experiences for any Christian. We know that God answers prayers and that He orchestrates events to bring blessings into our lives. We know that God is our sole provider. Yet when provision is sorely needed and events line up that would bring in that provision, and then the blessings never show, our only response is a heartfelt “Lord, I don’t understand!”
Is it a testing of our faith? Is it a misunderstanding of events? What did we get wrong? These are some of the questions that fill our thoughts when we see a much needed provision pass us by. So, what do we do now?
We declare that God is God and that we are not. We declare that God’s ways are not our ways and that He is our Heavenly Father. We declare that His love for us is unwavering and everlasting. We declare that God has a plan for our lives and that we see His perfect will play out each and every day. Then we acknowledge that although this blessing may not have been a part of His plan, there is a blessing in our future and our needed provision is coming our way.
We know that God’s timing is always perfect, so this must not have been the time. We know that God’s will is absolute, so this must not have been part of His will. We know that God is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, so we acknowledge that our faith, our hope and our trust is in the Lord.
We hold strong to the scripture verse that says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 5:5-6)
We hold steadfast to the truth that says, “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
We place our unwavering faith in the understanding that “my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
When disappointment and questions fill our thoughts, and they will, we need to turn to God in prayer.
So let us boldly lay every question and concern at the feet of our Lord. He wants to hear them all. Pray also for a greater understanding of His will and His ways.
Pray for peace in our hearts as we strive to understand. Pray for strength to stand strong in our faith that God is our sole provider and that He will ALWAYS provide for all of our needs.
Acknowledge that He is God and that we are not. Then praise Him and thank Him for His righteousness and His provision.
The walk of a Christian is often filled with many questions as we try to understand God’s will and His ways. It will certainly have its frustrating moments. But it is during these moments that we must humbly lay our questions and our frustrations at the feet of our Heavenly Father. It is during these moments that we reconfirm our faith and it is during these moments that we can nestle our soul in the truth that the Lord is our provider and that our God will provide.
