It’s a New Day
As I look out of my window and watch the day awaken, my thoughts begin to wander and I wonder what God has in store for me today. Will it be a good day or is there some unwanted surprise waiting for me? Will I walk on God’s path all throughout the day, or will I stumble a bit along the way? It’s interesting how the mind can wander when wondering about the unknown.
My thoughts drift smoothly into my resolve that regardless of how the day turns out, I will allow myself to be guided by the Holy Spirit each step of the way. I am confident that if I should stray off of my path, the Spirit of God is faithful to guide me back. Whether through conviction or circumstance, I know that the Holy Spirit is guiding my steps. I believe that those who place their trust and faith in the Lord will safely make it to wherever God’s will takes them.
As Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “for we walk by faith, not by sight.” It is true that the daily walk of a disciple of our Lord is a walk of faith and not of sight. For the things of this world are deceiving and meant to sway us away from God’s path. But a walk of faith is a journey of complete trust. Not trusting in ourselves, but in the one who redeemed us from the world.
Let us join with Paul in his proclamation that says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our steps all throughout the day. That we will face every challenge and every unknown with the confidence that comes through prayer.
The truth is that today is a new day. Yesterday is a memory and tomorrow is a dream, but today is a day that will be filled with new blessings, new challenges and new opportunities. It is a day that the Lord has made, so let us rejoice and be glad in it.
