It is All Part of the Journey
Isn’t it interesting how everyone believes in something. Whether right or wrong, for good or for ill, it is our beliefs that drive us and guide our actions. As Christians, we believe in a Triune God. We believe that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are all the same God, each uniquely individual yet each being part of the same whole.
It is our belief in the infallibility of the Holy Scriptures that gives us the basis of our faith. It is our belief in the absolute truth in the Gospels of Jesus that provides the foundation of our willingness to change and it is the understanding of the letters of the Apostles that guides us in the journey of our Christian life.
As was said many times throughout these devotionals, life is a journey and the life of a Christian is no different. Our faith is a journey. Our growth in Christ is a journey and our sanctification is a journey. Our trials and tribulations are journeys as are our victories and triumphs. Eventually, we all will reach our final destination and the truth is that it will take us the rest of our lives to get there.
We willingly walk this Christian journey and endure every trial and difficult season because we embrace the words of Jesus who said “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-26)
We willingly travel this journey each day, through every season of bounty and want, because we have the mind of Christ. As the writer tells us in Hebrews 12:2, “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Even the life of Jesus was a journey.
In truth, our journey may have its difficult times, but it is also filled with times of unspeakable joy. Times of prayers being answered and God’s grace filling our life. We see lives changed for the better and see the growth and sanctification of our own. We feel the love and genuineness of our Christian brothers and sisters as we gather together to sing songs of praise and glory to our Holy Lord. Truly, the life of a Christian is a journey of peaks and valleys, highs and lows and it is a journey that is worth taking.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit to continue to guide our steps and our choices as we walk our journey of faith.
Let us pray that we continue to grow in our belief and our understanding of Jesus and the ways of our Heavenly Father.
We know that every season ends. Every day will eventually close and a new day will begin. It is all part of the journey. We also know that each new day is filled with a thousand different possibilities with a thousand different outcomes. We know that each day is a new journey offering us a chance to do it right this time. A chance to see God’s hand move in our life and a chance to draw even just a little closer to our Lord Jesus.
