How Often Do We Pray?

How often throughout the day would we say that we pray? Remember that praying is simply talking with our Lord. A prayer may be a request for a specific need, or it may be us sharing with Jesus a thought or a feeling that we have at that moment. How many “Thank You Jesus” prayers would we say are spoken by us throughout the day?

We reflect on Paul’s words in the familiar verse found in Philippians 4:6 where Paul tells us, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Essentially, Paul is telling us to keep Jesus so near to us that we naturally speak to Him throughout the day as if He were standing right beside us.

Whether we are calling on the Father, the Son or the Holy Spirit, they all faithfully hear our petitions and our prayers. Every “Thank You Jesus” touches the heart of the Father. Every prayer for guidance is heard by the Divine Trinity and every question posed is answered by one of the Blessed Three.

Let us pray that our connection to Jesus continues to grow throughout our day.

Pray that we would speak honestly and humbly with our Lord and do so as naturally as we would speak to a beloved spouse or a close friend.

May the words “Thank You Jesus” flow as freely and naturally from our lips as does our breath flow from our body.

The truth is that there is a bond and a familiarity that develops with frequent prayer. A bond that will naturally grow as our concerns and our fears, our hopes and our dreams, are all shared with our Holy God. It is a closeness that strengthens when our joys and our triumphs are shared with the Most High. We smile with the knowledge that a grateful heart and our genuine gratitude builds within us with every “Thank You Jesus”.
