Are Guardian Angels Real?

We all have had those experiences where we escaped serious injury or an impending disaster by what only could be reasoned to be by the Hand of God. Nonchristians claim that they were lucky. But for a follower of Jesus, could it have been something, or someone else? Perhaps it was our guardian angel watching over us who kept us from being involved in a terrible accident. If it was an angel, how many other accidents and events were avoided or made to happen through the effort of an angel?

Whether we have an angel watching over us or not is a controversial topic in the Christian ranks. Some believe that we do have an angel standing guard and some believe that we do not. I am in the camp that does believe that we do have angels ministering to our needs, as directed by God.

Psalm 34:7-8 tells us that, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”

Jesus said in Matthew 18:10, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”

Then the writer tells us in Hebrews 1:14, “Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”

We read the words of the psalmist in Psalm 103:20-21 saying, “Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command. Bless the LORD, all His hosts, you servants who do His will.”

Angels are real. They are not to be prayed to. They are not to be worshipped. They are with us to watch over us and to minister to our needs, as directed by God. They are with us, on assignment to us by our Heavenly Father. What we can pray for is that God would assign an angel to watch over us and those we love. We can pray that the Lord would assign an angel with a flaming sword to fight the enemy on our behalf whenever he approaches.

Then, in Revelations, Jesus speaks of angels watching over the seven churches. This tells us that even a church can have an angel watching over it and its pastors and congregation.

When we pray, ask God to send His angels to watch over us and our family. Pray that God will command His angels to keep us safe and to minister to our needs according to His desires and His will.

Also, let us pray for Thrive. Ask God to assign angels to watch over our church and our congregation during every service and every time that we meet as a church family.

Pray that God will assign His angels to watch over and protect our pastors and church leaders. That He will encamp His angels around Thrive as we strive to do the Lord’s will.

Angels are very real. As scripture explains, they are ministering spirits who fulfill tasks assigned to them by God. Their mission is to glorify God and to carry out the desires and will of our Heavenly Father. Let us thank God for His mighty angels who are watching over us. Let us thank God that the angels of the Lord encamp around those who love Him and let us thank God for all the ways that He shows us His eternal love.
