A Life Bathed in Prayer
Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)
The daily life of a Christian is one of learning and discovery. It is a life of changing from who we are into who Jesus wants us to be. It is a life of improvement and a life of growth. The changes that God brings into our life are usually subtle, but each change is designed to build upon previous improvements. Our Heavenly Father’s overall intent is to guide us in our growth and maturity as a disciple of Jesus.
In order for that to happen, prayer must be a part of our daily lives. Whether on our knees, standing somewhere or sitting quietly with our eyes closed, our God is listening and is waiting to answer. Every Christian who wants to grow in their understanding of God needs to live a life that is bathed in prayer.
We need to accept who we are in our relationship to this world, for the fact is that we are in the world, not of it. We need to remember that our first love is Jesus and everything that He taught us. So when the ways of God differ from the ways of the world, then our choice should be an easy one. However, we need to truly understand God’s ways before we can make that correct choice.
That is why we should pray, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
Let this prayer be a regular part of our daily prayers. Reach out to the Lord with a humble heart. Let Him know that we desire to understand and follow His ways and not the ways of this world.
We understand that every prayer that is answered ‘yes’ is a prayer that aligns with the will of God and this prayer certainly does that. May we all have a blessed and insightful day as we learn more about the ways of the Lord.
