Look Beyond the Clouds
There is a familiar verse in scripture that we have often heard quoted throughout our Christian life. It is found in Isaiah 40:31. It says, “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” It is a wonderful verse that many can quote as easily as they can quote the verse from John 3:16 that says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Yet how often do we take time to think about these cherished verses, along with so many others that we know so well?
In this rainy season that we are currently in, there are those times between the showers and the downpours that we can look up and see a sky filled with dark, ominous clouds. As we look toward the heavens, all that we can see are layers of darkness, just waiting to unleash their will upon us. However, if we let our thoughts venture just a bit further beyond the clouds, we realize that there, above all of the turmoil, is the sun filling the sky with all of its light. One has to wonder how often in our life we have been in a season that is filled with storms, dark clouds, and turbulent weather and all we can do is focus on the clouds?
When our life is filled with trouble and turmoil, as dark clouds hang thickly above our heads, may we always remember that there is a Son shining above all that we are focused on. He is there, radiant and filled with glory, waiting for us to shift our thoughts to Him and not to focus on what we are going through. He is waiting for us to mount our hopes on the wings of eagles and fly above the storm. Our focus should be to seek out the Son and renew our strength. To soar without fear and to calm any concerns as we bask in His light.
Let our prayers today rise above every cloud in our life. May we seek the Son as we allow our spirit to soar through the heavens. Jesus is there, waiting for us to reach out, to receive His comfort and blessing. He is waiting to renew our strength so that we can soar with the eagles.
At some point during this upcoming year, there will be times of turmoil in our lives and in the life of our church. May we always remember to train our focus above the clouds and seek out the Son of God. May we remember that regardless of what we may be going through, God is always with us, working behind the scenes on our behalf. May we keep our faith and remember who we are in His eyes. May we never forget that He has always proven Himself faithful, even though our faith may waiver.
