Our Ever Present God
One unique aspect of being a Christian is the ability to look back at the tapestry of our lives and notice a single golden thread carefully makes its way along the paths that we chose to follow. We can see how at times the thread was very near to us and at other times it would move off a short way. Yet remarkably, it never moved too far off, and it never truly left us as we journeyed through our turbulent and chaotic life.
It is so interesting to see how that pure golden thread was always there. How through all of the good times and even during those times that were not so good, it was always close by. Then we see that wonderful moment where that purest of threads merged with our journey. We realize its influence becomes stronger as we see change after change occur in our life. We watch as that beautiful thread becomes brighter and more pronounced.
God has always been close to us every moment of our life. Although we may not have realized it, many of us heard His voice calling us, directing us, and trying to guide us onto the correct path. We are told in Isaiah 30:21,” Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.””
Let us give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His presence in our life, as we understand that He was always there watching over us, even before we knew Him.
Let us give God our thanks for calling us to His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us give thanks to the precious Holy Spirit for being an active part of our life, for His continual guidance, His gentle touch, and His unconditional love.
So may we all embrace these parting words from King David, for they apply to us as well. With all humility, he said to God; “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” (Psalm 139:1-6)
