Pray, Prepare and Watch
David writes in Psalm 5:1-3, “Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groaning. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”
As we read this passage, let us think about how much it applies to every Christian who starts their day in prayer. We come humbly before our Creator and lay our petitions boldly at His feet. Each prayer is offered in faith because we know that our God hears our voice and desires greatly to hear our prayers.
Then, at some point after we pray, our thoughts turn to the day ahead of us. We know that there will be a host of decisions made throughout the day and a variety of interactions with the various people we will meet. We prepare ourselves and purpose in our mind to maximize each encounter and make every decision in a manner that will be pleasing to our Lord. We do this because we know that our lives each day are to be a living sacrifice. All for the glory of Jesus.
But, how many of us watch throughout the day to see how God’s hand moves in our lives? How many blessings have we failed to recognize simply because we were not looking for them?
It is important to watch for our blessings and to acknowledge every answered prayer, because answered prayers build our faith. Answered prayers strengthen our resolve and each prayer that is answered and acknowledged brings glory to our Father in Heaven.
Let us lay every need and every hope at the feet of our Holy God.
Let us pray in faith, knowing that God cherishes our prayers and answers us out of His great love.
Let us pray that we will live a life today that will be pleasing to our Lord Jesus, then let us watch for the blessings and the favor that God will bestow as our day unfolds.
Praying early in the morning prepares our mind and grounds our thoughts in a hope that only God can provide. Watch throughout the day for our Lord’s blessings and acknowledge every answered prayer. For as we read in James 1:17, “Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.”
Have a wonderfully blessed day.
